Video Microbial Protein According to 007
Is microbial protein so revolutionary that the world-famous special agent James Bond needs to be called in?
Microbial protein is indeed a revolutionary way to produce protein, but it is by no means top secret. Microbial protein is created using the well-known, age-old technique of fermentation: microorganisms such as microbes, yeasts and fungi are brought together in large fermentation tanks with nutrients, a sugar source and a nitrogen source. The result of this fermentation process is the production of new proteins, fats or sugar alternatives.
With a playful video entirely in James Bond style, the partners of The ProteInn Club introduce microbial protein to a broad audience.
Through the Food Pilot, ILVO is a member of The ProteInn Club, a successful collaboration on fermentation-based proteins together with Bio Base Europe Pilot Plant, Ghent University (UGent) and CAPTURE.
