The FT174XA is a modular HTST/UHT processing system designed to treat products at flow rates of 10-60 l/h
It contains interchangeable modules for:
- Direct heating using steam injection
- Indirect heating using tubular, plate or scraped surface heat exchangers
- Upstream or downstream homogenization
- Chilling
- Packaging is performed by means of the sterile Filling System FT83XA (Armfield)
These are the modules:
1. Base unit: comprises a stainless-steel table for mounting the process equipment, a feed pump and vessel, the touchscreen control panel, steam line components and all associated electrical controls.
2. Pre-heat: a gentle preheat action is achieved by using steam at sub-atmospheric pressure. In this way, stable temperatures of 100 - 60°C or less are feasible.
3. Main heat: Steam is applied to the heating section of the product heat exchanger. The product temperature is measured at the heat exchanger's end and regulated to maintain the set point. The same valve controls steam for the Direct Steam Injection module. A pressurized hot water system is included.
4. Primary cooling: Cooling water is applied to the cooling section of the product heat exchanger with the flowrate controllable and measured
5. Feed pump system: A progressive cavity feed pump ensures consistent flow for various liquid viscosities, featuring a stainless steel rotor in a food-grade rubber stator. All product-contacting parts are 316L stainless steel or other food-grade materials. The pump handles flow rates from 10 to 150 l/h (used for CIP) and includes a feed tank, level sensor, pressure-relief valve, and temperature and pressure sensors.
